TSP Educational Foundation Scholarships
(Application submission is now closed for 2023. This information remains visible for reference.)

The Texas Society of Pathologists Educational Foundation (TSPEF) was established to encourage education and research in the field of pathology. Annual contributions to the TSPEF help support the growth and continuity of the Scholarship Program.

The TSPEF will offer up to five (5) scholarships of up to $500 each. Additionally, the V.O. Speights Scholarship in Pathology awards up to $1000 for one outstanding application meriting additional funding.

Pathology residents, fellows or medical students interested in pathology as a career may apply and must be active TSP members. Only one application needs to be submitted in order to be considered for all TSPEF annual scholarships.

Past scholarships have been awarded to fund a variety of endeavors including investigational research, externship travel, materials (e.g. books, software) to obtain special training, and travel to a meeting (presentation or other active involvement at a meeting is prioritized over simply attending). Other uses (e.g. pathology-associated community service or education projects) are also encouraged. Please note that scholarships are NOT approved to cover past projects that have been or will be completed at the time that funds are awarded.  Scholarships are typically awarded each January, with recognition during the TSP's annual meeting.  (*The 102nd Annual Meeting is being held January 27-29, 2023 at the Renaissance Legacy West Hotel, in Plano. Scholarship recipients will be recognized during the TSP Business Meeting at the Annual Meeting.)

The TSPEF Scholarship Application (which is a very simple Survey Monkey online form) includes the following items to be uploaded:

  • A letter describing the intended use of the scholarship funds. This item is REQUIRED.
  • Confirmation of use of funds, if applicable (e.g., registration confirmation, letter from externship institution confirming participation, acknowledgment from program that research is being done, etc.)
