TNS POSITION: SYSTEMIC RACISM AND INEQUITIES IN SOCIETY

The Texas Neurological Society board condemns racism in all its shapes and forms. The first item on the list of purposes of the TNS is “To promote the interest of patients with neurologic disease by supporting the development and delivery of quality medical care to these patients, and by opposing those things adverse to their interests”.  Racism and inequality are major causes of adversity not only against our patient’s interests but against the health and wellbeing of our nation and society as a whole. The TNS supports the AAN position on systemic racism and inequities in society. We wish to uphold the mission of the TNS to continue to support inclusiveness within our membership, speakers and leadership to further the goals of equality and respect to all who seek care from us.
